Welcome to the Second Wind Community Band Website

and to all Concert Band Musicians..... and fans of Concert Band Music and Musicians.

Come and hear or maybe even join the Second Wind Community Band to play some great music any season.

Have you ever played a concert band instrument? If the answer is yes... then you are invited to either dust off your band instrument or take it out of the closet and consider joining Second Wind Community Band September or just maybe take in a concert. Or maybe you are sticking around Cape Breton this coming year to either further your studies here or you are entering the working world in Cape Breton. You might be interested in continuing to play your band instrument with us. Second Wind Community Band has developed into a great performing group. They are folk from many walks of life and who are passionate about making music and playing their instrument. Come and join us.

We rehearse at Malcolm Munroe Junior High School on 125 Kenwood Drive in Sydney River, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, CANADA. You should have a high school level of playing or the equivalent in private training or performance….. and you need to own your own instrument.

If you are not sure that you should get back into playing, make an appointment with Laura Mercer or with Sean McLennon, co-conductors, really soon, to get an assessment. You know the answer will be..... “of course you can do it.....”

The cost for students is CD$50.00 for the entire year and it’s CD$100.00 for non-students. We have many things planned for every season such as bandfest weekends in the summer and fall, a concert hopefully in Sydney’s Wentworth Park in usually late September or early October, Christmas presentations and a final spring presentation to end the season. Our concerts and performances are always in support of community groups such as the l’Arche Cape Breton Community, the Foodbanks and the Every Women’s Center.

We’d love to have you come and join us on Thursdays.
